Frequently Asked Questions

Is Soul Care considered "therapy/counseling"?

Answer: No, it is not. In order to provide therapy or clinical professional counseling, a person must be licensed by the State of Nevada as defined by NRS 641A.60 or  641A.65. If it seems like a person could benefit from psychological or psychiatric aide from a mental health care professional, I will gladly provide that person with recommendations.

What is Soul Care?

Answer: It is a ministry in which I partner with an individual to provide life coaching. I seek to listen and coach individuals in areas of life in which they feel burdened and/or dissatisfied. I often times provide Soul Care to individuals by using the Grief Recovery Method

What if I am not religious? Does that mean Soul Care isn't for me?

Answer: Soul Care is absolutely for you! I do not differentiate between those who consider themselves religious and those who do not. Nor do I ever attempt to force my beliefs onto anyone. I see every person as having intrinsic value and worth. My goal with everyone is to get to know them and their unique story to see how I can provide helpful coaching to whatever is disrupting their enjoyment of life.

What if I am a person of faith? I'm looking for a Christian Counselor.

Answer: I was a pastor at a Christian church here in Reno, NV from 2003 to 2020, and I provided one-on-one Biblical Counseling to an estimated 450 different people. I would be happy to incorporate Biblical Counseling into our times together if that is what you desire.

What are your fees? What do you charge per session?

Answer: $0.00

I do not charge for Soul Care. My ministry operates on a "pay it forward" philosophy, meaning that should you choose to pursue Soul Care with me, someone has already covered the cost of our time together. My hope is that after you have received a tangible benefit from our time together, you will pay it forward for the next person.

Soul Care Nevada is a 501c3 Nonprofit organization. All contributions are tax deductible.

I see you offer Enneagram Coaching. I've heard some concerning critiques about it, so why do you use it?

Answer: The Enneagram is a personality classification tool that identifies nine personality styles within a person. Like any tool, it can be misused and thereby cause harm. The reason why I chose to use this tool rather than other personality tests such as Meyers-Briggs or Strengthsfinder, is because the Enneagram reveals areas in which we may be relying on the strength of our personality traits to overcome deep residing emotions such as shame, fear or guilt. I take a Christ-centered approach with the results to help a person learn how the Gospel is our ultimate answer to those deep residing emotions.

When I search your address, Farmers Insurance appears. Do I have the correct location?

Answer: Yes you do. My primary source of income is my Farmers Insurance Agency, but my primary passion is Soul Care.  In my office, I have a private room to meet with individuals and couples for Soul Care.

Subsequent Question: Is this a bait-and-switch? Are you just trying to solicit insurance to me?

Answer: Absolutely not! I will never mingle Soul Care with insurance sales.
